Around the Lake May 2016

Categories // News Blog

Well the weather has meant to have been a lot colder over the past month and here we are still breaking into the 20s regularly. With this of course the lake has had more use during this time of year than it normally does. We hope you are all having a great time out there and enjoying yourselves.

Junior Development

As you should all be aware by now the CJSC has been working with NZJSBA, the Harbormaster and Wayne Middleton over the past year and got the Junior Development class up and running. With this all sorted and underway we have had a very good positive uptake of new young riders into this training. Because of this we also have a sub-committee to organise and run this training. Any inquires related to this can be directed to Glenn Chisholm on 021 777 212.

Around the Lake February 2016

Categories // News Blog

Round 4 of the SISS was held on 14th of Feb and was another great days racing, with 22 on the line for Pole Ski Stock after lunch it was a very busy time for the riders, marshals, and lap scorers.  Everything went very well and the days racing was great to watch with many spectators moving through the Lake area during the days event. As a reminded to the racers, your race numbers need to be in accordance with the 2015 rule book that we race to.  If not and your number is unreadable you could lose points in the South Island Champs or even worse Nationals for those attending.  For the Rules regarding numbering open/download the PDF rules from NZJSBA (http://nzjetsport.org.nz/info-rules/) Part 8 rule 17.11 covers numbering, Diagrams page 82 shows were they should be placed.

Round 3

Round 3 was held on the 31st of Jan and was a fantastic day with some amazingly close racing with the racers showing their class by holding lines and making some very tight and exciting points during the events.  The points were uploaded to the website that night but if you haven't seen them yet check them out here, Results 2015-16 SISS.  We have also just uploaded photos to facebook kindly sent to us by Les who many of you will have seen out around the Lake during these events snapping some pictures.  It is much appreciated by the club that he is willing to spend his time and get these photos and then supply them to use for you to use.  So a huge thanks to Les.

Round 4

As most of you will know it is a very busy time at the moment with racing basically every fortnight, so we are getting ready for another great event this Sunday the 14th.  Hopefully the warm weather sticks around and makes it all that much more enjoyable.  As always spectators are welcome and it is a great time for non-racing members to come down and ask any questions they might have for the committee members or just to enjoy the days events. Please be aware that a few members will most likely be down at the lake to setup the course between now and Saturday and you may be ask to stop using the lake for 30-60mins while this is carried out.  Sorry about the inconvenience but it is to provide safety while maneuvering buoys.
We look forward to seeing you all there.
Thanks,
CJSC

Around the Lake January 2016

Categories // News Blog

Gidday everyone, we hope you have all had a great break over the Christmas and New Year period enjoying the lake and are ready and refreshed for 2016.  There has been some great weather over the past month which has surely made staying away from the lake a hard task.

Rd 3 SISS

Round 3 is upon us this Sunday the 31st, hopefully all the racers have been out practicing hard to make this event another exciting and close race for the competitors.  We will be out at the lake on Saturday to do some setting up for the racing on Sunday so please keep a safe distance from the people preparing the course while out on the lake.  With the large number of racers attending the events this season we also ask that all competitors arrive nice and early so we don't have any delays getting the day started.  Times as follows: 0830-0930 start arriving, 0930-1015 Scruitneering, 1015-1030 Riders Brief, 1030 Racing starts.

Well the warmer weather has started to show up and this season is looking to be a busy one.  The new gate system has been installed, and many other big projects are underway to make Lake Roto Kohatu better for all its members. Please be aware that this Friday 30th and Saturday the 31st there will be work done on the access road to maintain it.  Because of this there may be major delays getting down the access road to the lake.  Please be patient and allow the people carrying out the work the space they require.  We also have a lake clean up happening on the Saturday, because of this there may be some limitations on the lake when people are out resetting buoys or during other general cleanup that can only be done on the lake.

Winter Round 1 Lake Brunner 2015

Categories // News Blog

Well it was a stark contrast from last year’s sun baked enduro event at Lake Brunner. This year the heavens opened up and dumped a substantial amount of rain on us and our event. A few hearty souls still braved the elements and most had an enjoyable day... albeit a cold one. Yamaha and Kawasaki were well represented and took podium results. It was great to see some new faces who are keen to continue racing at future events. Special thanks to David, Mike and Mark from the CJSC committee and extra helpers Grant, Olivia, Chris, Darrell, Jason and Greg who helped the committee put the event on. Special thanks to the Wave Runner Centre for sponsoring the BBQ and for arranging the use of Jenny II (our covered floating lap scoring palace).

Despite the cold weather the competitors still wanted more punishment and took on the elements to find the poker cards hidden around the lake. With heavy rain and mist setting in it was certainly a challenge but well worth it. Special thanks to Chris for the use of his boat, and the beverages. A good night was had at the Moana pub with spot prizes handed out to competitors.

CJSC Xmas Newsletter December 2014

Categories // News Blog

With xmas upon us, no doubt we are all flat out trying to get work done and Christmas shopping completed before the 25th.  Take a moment to pop out to the lake over the holidays and relax on the water... its a great stress release!!!! Our amazing facility, Lake Roto Kohatu is a great place to use your PWC in fresh water.  If you are new to the club and not sure on the track layout, ask someone or follow other riders around. There is a copy of the track on our facebook page and further details with this newsletter. In most cases the course is right turn on white and left turn on red in an anti clockwise direction.  The left hand side of the lake is set in a split course (2 track options) merging at the small white strung buoy line.  Please be aware of who is around you before making turns especially at high speed.  Accidents can cause a lot of damage to your bones and craft.  To all of our racers... please be understanding of new members and help them learn the track... most busy days at the lake I ask that you be considerate of others and take track time slots so racers and recreational users all have their fair time on the water.
