Hi Guys and Girls For all those going over to Lake Brunner this weekend, here is a map of the course. This is not the confirmed course
and can be changed depending on conditions and other events. If it is changed it won't be changed by much.
Good luck to everyone going over and safe driving. It will be an awesome day. Last race of the series and wee see
who the winners, oh and those that came second are.
The weather for Saturday is sunny with high cloud. Overnight temp of 4 and daytime temp 13. Shorts and sunnies
Gidday everyone, well Round 3 at Lake Brunner is just around the corner and looks to be a fantastic event. Best part of all is this round will be combined with the social Poker Run and evening at the local Pub with entertainment on Saturday night. Check out our facebook page through the link below.
Well it certainly was an interesting Round 2 of the South Island Endurance Tour. 16 Brave idiots were on the side of the lake at 9am for registration.... it had been -3 during the night and the skis were frosted up nicely. We looked more like a team of eskimo’s... than jet skiers. The 2 Pole Skis raced a shortened track for 45 minutes, with Darryl Dunbar from Dunedin taking honours in the open class, and Daniel Jephson not far behind as the First Stock Boat home. The 11 runabout entries (including teams) set out with great intentions on the 5.7km course...but only 4 of them actually finished the race. The safety marshalls were kept extremely busy towing many of them into the boat ramp. With Kawasaki’s and Seadoo’s breaking down we were beginning to think the conditions got the better of us! After a brief break with a sausage sizzle compliments of The Waverunner Centre, and a roaring fire to warm riders up... 5 skis set out for race #2. But... the lake was not finished claiming victims... and by the last lap only 3 skis remained in the race. A great weekend was had by all... especially on Highlands go kart track... and for those that hit the Queenstown night life.
With the report of an onslaught of snow on Friday, hopefully the Lindas Pass will not be closed. A few are heading down first thing Friday and will let us know what the road is like. Keep an eye on the facebook page or website and we will keep you updated with road conditions.
Finally summer is here. Roll on those balmy summer days so we can get back to enjoying our sport. Our new membership for the 2013 – 2014 season is now due. The official key swap will take place at the lake Sunday 20th October between 12noon – 4.30pm Weather permitting. The old key will be removed from the gate at 4.30pm. If you want to still gain access to the lake after this time you will need to renew your membership. If it is raining we will reschedule the key swap at round one of the Racing season. Remember if you are not rejoining, return your old key for your bond refund.
Welcome to winter. While allot of people are rugging up by the fire, some hardy jet skiers are still out enjoying the lake. Winter is still a great time to ski. Those sunny crisp winter days are quite enjoyable out on the water. A few of our more dedicated riders are regularly out training for the 2013 world finals in Lake Havasu (Arizona USA) in October. We will keep you updated on their results. In this newsletter we bring you tips on storing your ski over winter, some great winter rides around the south island, news form the past few months and dates for future events.
