CJSC puts out an invite to Australian riders

Categories // News Blog

The Canterbury Jet Sports Club would like to put an invite to any Australian riders that would like to compete in the upcoming 2012 NZ Jet Sport Nationals to be held on the 30/31 March / 1st April 2012.

The Canterbury Jet Sports Club has a history of high quality events that are well run and well supported. With a long list of national events hosted by the CJSC over the last 25 years, they have most recently hosted the successful 2002, 2005 and highly successful 2007 national events. All closed course racing will be held at Lake Roto Kohatu on the pre set track. Class numbers will be limited to ensure riders safety. This will create a heats based event or qualifying that will allow for exciting competitive racing.

The water cross classes are mini style endurance events with three races lasting approx 25 minutes. Due to the size of Lake Roto Kohatu the Water Cross events will be run at Lyttleton Harbour.

The return to a 3 day race schedule has been implemented by the CJSC committee. We believe this will allow riders to cross enter into more classes, maximising numbers, creating full fields and extending coverage at the event.

Categories // News Blog

We are also very happy to announce that we have again secured the rights to hold the 'NZ Jet Sports Nationals' at Lake Rotokohatu. This will be held on the 30/31 of March & 1st April 2012. As part of this event we are also working through the concept of a watercross event (3x 20 minute races, mini enduro's) held at Lyttelton Harbour on the morning of Friday the 30th of March 2012.
The planning is well underway, but if you can assist or would like to consider sponsoring during the event please contact the committee now.

On the second weekend of May the Australian Nationals were held in Queensland. 2 Canterbury riders competed at the event, both in the premier Pole Ski class. Trent Brown (current nz champion) and Cole Askew (Australian 2009 winner) took on the aussies and current World Champion Kevin Reiterer (Austria). After his boat arrived late and in parts, Cole was plagued with engine problems and a few dnf’s put him out of the running for a podium finish. Reiterer had a similar fate with a minor problem in one race, which opened the door for Trent to battle it out with the rest of the Australian based field and take the title. Aucklander (and current World and NZ champion) Sam Harvey took out the Pro Runabout Open title. Congratulations to Trent, Sam and Cole.
